Best Low Budget Ultralight Backpack For Travel 2022

best ultralight backpack Reddit

welcome everybody to east coast gear reviews where this Canadian gear head helps you find quality lightweight gear for your next backpacking trip

and today we're taking a look at this backpack yes today we're taking a look at the nature hike 60 liter pack i think it's a 60 plus 5 liter pack because of the outer pocket capacity weighs in at 1200 grams or 2.6 pounds

that's if you took out the included rain cover if you left that in and you wanted to use that 1 300 grams not an ultra light pack definitely light lightweight and i got this on aliexpress or the Chinese version of amazon i guess for 94.

Canadian shipped to my door no customs no other additional fees so is this a steal of a deal or is it a complete bust to find out let's go through the features of this pack

and find out what my first impressions are before i start taking it on some longer trips so we'll start here with the back panel and shoulder straps the shoulder straps are about two and a half three inches wide adequately padded nothing too crazy

and definitely not under padded very comfortable to wear the sternum strap is nice it has a bit of give to it there's a piece of elastic in there and as you move around it'll widen

and contract the back panel has about half inch of foam and that's covering the back sheet which sits next to uh or on top of the aluminum frame the frame starts at the top goes

all the way down to the bottom it contours to the shape of the body and is made from aluminum doesn't seem like there's too much bend or flex into it so it seems like it's quite sturdy and should be robust enough for backpacking

you'll see a pocket mounted on the left shoulder strap that is for anything from a GPS snacks maybe a cell phone if it's not too big will fit in there i know on some really cheap packs

they skimp on the buckles they're really fine thin you feel like as soon as you're gonna pull one way or another the whole thing will break not the case here with the nature hike an awesome feature with the hip

best ultralight backpack

belt are two large i'll call them large hip belt pockets which can be operated with just one hand although sometimes i find you do have to use two hands your mileage may vary depends on how far around those pockets come around your waist

if you're a big guy like me they're more around to the side it's a little bit harder to close them the hip belt buckle is big enough that it's not digging into you as you're moving it's quite comfortable seems like a nice decent quality

and i love the design they've done with the straps it's actually a two-way tightening system so you have the more traditional i'll call it the osprey method where

you're pulling from the outside in towards the middle but you also have a secondary tightening which goes from the inside out the hip belt is also detachable

dyneema backpack

so you could remove it if you're not using it for multi-day backpacking if you want to use it as a day pack this can actually come out it's attached inside with Velcro that brings us to the lumbar support padding very thick

very nice feels very comfortable on the back no issues at all with anything on the hip belt or the padding i'm wondering how can they sell this for a hundred dollars

I've been checking the seams as i go i everything's well stitched I've seen a couple of loose threads but no mist stitches i mean overall very well made and designed pack moving on to the left side of the pack

first thing you'll notice are these little shoelace weaved tie downs compression strap things not a big fan of these although i'm going to keep them on just to see if they do become more useful

as i use the pack and they have included them on buckles so if you wanted to you could easily remove this unweave it through leave it at home saving you a few more grams in the process

lightweight hiking backpack

because it's a roll top pack you'll see the strap down here on the side that's holding the top panel closed and an awesome feature are these large mesh elastic pockets definitely enough room for two smart water bottles

you can throw your 10 pegs in here also you could fit 750 tokes cook pot or even an 1100 millilitre tokes cook pot the side pockets are huge and if you wanted to strap things down even tighter

you could use this shoelace thing moving to the back of the pack the first thing you'll notice is this gigantic mesh style elastic pocket which is great for stuffing rain gear inside

if you're a hammock camper you can throw your tarp if it's wet in there i love love love having an outside mesh pocket and one of this size is perfect for my needs you've got some cordage here to tie down gear

i think you could probably manage to put some trekking poles through here and use these gear loops at the bottom and a really cool feature that i haven't seen on any other packs it's on this one

best budget backpacking pack

i'm not 100 sure if i like it but i don't hate it yet it's promising and that's this pocket here i have to look up the name on AliExpress for this pocket because it's kind of funny at least

when i read it i thought it was funny okay they call this the kangaroo warehouse and they call this the deputy warehouse anyway the deputy warehouse pocket is uh held on by these straps again on these shoelace styles string

i might swap that out someday we'll see and this pocket's pretty deep definitely fit things like your toiletries first aid kit maybe some snacks whatever you think you might need quickly

this pocket will allow you to get it without getting into the main compartment okay that brings us to the top of the pack in order to get to the main compartment undo these deputy warehouse buckles

you have two side buckles that hold the main compartment pocket closed and it's just a standard roll top bag so if you've never seen this style before

budget backpacking gear

it's basically one big tubular piece of dyneema in which you just stuff all of your gear in there's no additional zippered pockets or some bags will have the sleeping bag compartment on the bottom

i wasn't never a big fan of those seems like a lot of buckles and zippers that you just don't need i like to keep it simple you can just see how big that backpack is probably a little bit bigger than i need for my gear load out 94 dollars man

i can take my gear and the Mrs all one goat not that i'm going to she can carry your own stuff obviously

if you have more gear in here you have the ability to loosen these off and the ability to loosen these off figured i'd mention that i'm not here to insult your intelligence

or anything finally the right hand side it's the same as the left hand side you've got the large side pocket made of mesh

and you've got this shoestring rope zigzag thing going on the main compartment's made of the dyneema material you've got the mesh on the back

budget backpacking gear for beginners

and on the sides and you've got this more rugged material i'm not sure what this is i tried to find out what kind of material that is seems like some sort of rip stop type polyester nylon

what you call it i don't know see the zipper pocket down here for the rain cover or any other unmentionables

you want to hide down there from the cops the back panel yeah you might get a little bit sweaty when you're hiking

because there's not a lot of airflow there is a mesh cover on there it's well padded when i was out hiking i did notice that there was a gap between my lower back and the pad and the panel

i think that's because of the shape or the design of the frame um but i don't think it's it's anything like the osprey or the Gregory packs that have that floating air mesh system but i sweat

when i type on a keyboard so i'm used to it again i'm checking the quality as i go again the stitching very nice some loose threads but nothing missed um

i can't find any negative things about the quality of this pack the mesh seems quite quite nicely woven the elastics are nice even the even the shoestring whatever

lightweight backpack for travel

you call this seems to be a decent material okay i think I've talked enough about this pack let's go through the pros and the cons first pro the price

I've already talked about it a few times 94 dollars for a 60 liter pack under two and a half or under three pounds the price number one pro pro number two is

i already mentioned the comfort of the pack so i did take it for a couple kilometre hike through the woods felt no pressure points very comfortable on the shoulders very comfortable on the hip so comfort is a definite pro for me

third pro is the weight I've already mentioned it again a couple times these pros are no surprise are they 1200 grams or maybe a little bit less

if you use a more accurate scale could be a little bit more too but for two and a half fish pounds for an internal frame pack i did use a frame less pack for a little while just didn't enjoy it as much

i had to keep messing around with the sit pad that i was using or the therm-a-rest z-light i cut down using as a frame i didn't like it kept flopping all over the place so a frame i think works for me

lightweight backpack small

and because it's a 60 liter pack i wanted to be able to use the full 60 liters so the capacity for this uh weight wise is around 30 pounds which is more than i think i would ever carry with food and water

so it's got to be the weight pro number three okay so it's all sunshine and rainbows and puppy dogs

but what are the cons these shoelaces sure let's call that a con i think it's kind of a weird design to have these shoelaces on here that's a con oh i got one the wait time so in order to get this from aliexpress

i think i ordered it early November and i got it mid to late January just a couple days ago so if you want something in a hurry

you can't just run down to mountain equipment co-op or rei or any of these stores and pick this up also not available on amazon at the time of this recording

so it's not two-day shipping so i'll put wait time now even that's not truly a con because if you wanted to order a cottage country cottage company style backpack one of these nice 400 backpacks

custom ultralight backpacks

you're going to be waiting several months for that so con i guess all right I've got one more and it's kind of an iffy con i suppose and that's the durability

so although it seems like it's of good quality the buckles the material the mesh the padding in the back everything seems to be well made put together for 94 dollars for the next

i don't know 100 kilometres or several trips i'm gonna be waiting like a time bomb if this thing's just gonna collapse and fail miserably on me so that's perhaps a con it's just that

i don't know how long this will last so the plan is to do a bunch of short day hikes overnight trips with this check in on the quality make sure it's not starting to fall apart before i take it on a much longer trip

okay i came up with three pros three cons you decide if those cons are really cons i think there's one that's a con the other two nah so for that reason three pros to really one potential con

i'm gonna recommend this bag for any newbies out there or anybody that wants to get a lighter pack a decent pack with a mesh outer pocket with an internal frame

best ultralight backpack 2021/2022

and you don't want to spend more than 100 bucks pick this up from aliexpress definitely seems to be worth it now don't forget i haven't taken this out for any long stretches

yet there could still be failures there could still be some catastrophically uncomfortable things to it so make sure you check back on the channel because i will do a follow up of this that is it for this one thank you very much for visiting.
